About Branded URLs

A branded URL is simply a web address that is comprised of deliberately selected text.

Branded URLs are sometimes preferred for marketing purposes, as they are often used in place of a more technical URL with one that has more meaning or is more memorable to the consumers using the URL.

Creating a Branded URL

  1. Determine what web address the customer wants created - such as custom.webaddress.com

does the address have to contain the added period aside from the one that accompanies com? are there any restrictions on what the address can be?

  2. Create custom.webaddress.com entry in the DNS of the property website address.

who does this?

  1. Point that new entry to the following b4checkin IP: 199.184.144.45

Note: The IP address could change depending on what the property is using for a DOS attack service.

    who does this?
is there more we should know about the DOS attack service variable?

  2. The property must purchase an SSL for custom.webaddress.com

The SSL Certificate must use at least sha256 (2048 bit encryption) and be from a reputable certificate authority such as GoDaddy, VeriSign, Thawte, etc.

  3. The property must send the SSL Certificate, private key and the intermediate certificate to b4checkin.
